I've been busy making these little guys over the last few days. They are a super simple design all dressed up with applique! I'm even putting my newly designed lining fabrics to the test too. These two are available now in my leatherythings shop, and more will be listed in the next couple of days. Thanks for looking!

New Stuff!
I've been working on some stuff and slowly but surely filling up my shop again. I am also making a ton of catnip pillows for The Companion Animal Foundation, one of our local animal rescues. The money made from the catnip pillows goes right back to the Foundation so they can help care for homeless animals in our area. I hope to get back to helping to clean and care for the animals again soon. Maybe when kitten hits again. It feels good to help.
Right now, my focus is on some smaller card wallets that should be finished up and listed later in the week. I can't say enough how thankful I am for my little shop and all the wonderful people who look at and buy my work, it has been a life saver for me! I really feel this today because our financial situation sucks right now, and will probably keep sucking for a while to come. With one of us out of work, and myself stretched beyond reason with a couple of part time jobs, and lots of sewing, on top of caring for my kids, it has been ridiculously hard. But thanks to all the people who have bought my work, we are scooting by! Right now, I can feed and house my family, and that feels wonderful! So thanks to all of you out there who take the time to look, and to those who buy handmade, you do a lot for us little artsy peoples, and you are so very AWESOME!
With love,
Nicael

Checkbook Covers!
I managed to get a few checkbook covers done this weekend for Funk Shui in Eureka. I am running out of leather super fast these days which is making me play with color a lot more than usual, but I think I came up with some interesting combinations here. Now that these are done, I have a couple of custom orders to finish along with a huge pile of pouches! I'm gonna be sewing for a very long time!
That is good.

Wallets, Wallets, and More Wallets
I'm trying my darndest to get lots of stuff sewn up this week for the coming holidays and so far, it's going pretty well. I have decided not to stress too much and just enjoy! I am coming up with some crazy color schemes and designs. The billfolds above are two of my favorite color combinations for the moment, Last year I had a thing for red, grey, and black, and purple, grey, and black. Now it's these! They are both looking for new homes and are available with FREE SHIPPING from my Etsy shop

New in Red
I finished these two up this weekend and now they are waiting in my Etsy shop to go to new homes! Can you tell that I really like how red, black, and grey look together:) After a very busy week, I am back to cutting and sewing and gearing up for the holidays. I have one more great big red pouch to sew up and then I'm on to some purple things and billfolds. Wheeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Things to Share!
With the kids both in school now, I am finally getting a few minutes here and there to sew. I've been down with some crazy sinus troubles since mid August so I am happy to be back to the sewing machine and making stuff. I finished up these babies and they are all ready to go!
Both kids are in school now! Ed is officially in T-K which is Transitional Kindergarten (for the the kiddos that aren't quite old enough for regular ol' Kindergarten) She LOVES it! Ciaran is with the same teacher for 2nd grade and LOVES it too:) Now, my quest is getting myself making cool stuff on a regular basis as well as hopefully working as a substitute here and there. It's all an adventure:)

Grey, Green, Purple, Blue, Lavender, Brown, and more GREY!
I am working on a new wallet pouch thingy and I came up with some combinations of colors that I really like. They are weird, but I like them. I've got some pale green, grey, purple, and bright blue, I think I may have puked with this one a couple of years ago, and the picture doesn't make it look very interesting, but it really is! (To me anyways) The second is a sort of dusty teal with more grey, lavender, and dark brown, and I love it! I made a custom wallet in the same colors for someone just few weeks ago and was not completely sure if the colors would work, but they did and I really like it now. So much that I am making a few things for my shop with this same color scheme. It's fun to play! I am still loving red, grey and black, and grey, violet, and black too! So you will probably see a few more of those combos coming up shortly. I never thought I would like grey suede so much!

Get those Cuffs Off of My Table!
New Oopsie cuff, this one came out beautifully except for the rivets which are all crazy and crooked. Looks like I'll be keeping this one:) |
Elastic closure with vintage button |
My new favorite in brown leather with a little bit of olive green leather and some pumpkin colored suede with a button/loop closure. |

Red, Black, and Grey are AWESOME Together!
At least I think so.......... and Grey, purple and black too!................and............well, all the colors are AWESOME! I just happen to like these two different combinations A LOT at the moment. I am thinking that there will be more of these colors coming up in my work over the next meanwhile.
I just finished up a couple of cuffs that I have been working on FOREVER! One of which, I completely screwed up but it still looks pretty darn awesome, and it is still very wearable. I guess I will keep that one for myself. I am using rivets now, and with garment weight leather and suede it can be difficult to get those rivets set just right. I am working on it though.
It's been a really long week here. Not sure if it's just being inside a lot or my never ending list of things to do but I am super-tuckered-out this week. I imagine it's the rainy weather and being inside more than usual with two kids and a cold that just lives on and on and on. I've had to kick myself in the butt a couple of times this week just to keep myself moving. As much as I love Fall and Winter, I am looking forward to a little more daylight to work in. I plan to take advantage of it as much as possible, and not just for work, for play too:) The kids have a lot of plans for us. Lots of skateboarding, kite flying, park-going, evening walks, and hopefully swimming lessons! We will see what happens with that and all of us water-chickens here. I never liked going to the pool before the kids were born, not sure how I'll feel about it now, but I want my two to know how to swim! Other than that, nothing much to see here:) the same 'ol stuff, just the way I like it! Cheers!

Free Shipping!
I forgot to mention in my Christmas post that I am offering free shipping for the next few weeks. You can check out all of the leathery goodness in my Etsy shop that I'm offering AND, I am still listing new things! I have a few more wallets and pouches to post and some new cuffs as well. My goal for 2013 was to work hard and I plan on carrying that over into 2014. I am on a good productive roll right now, and I hope to keep it that way. Wish me luck:)

I'm makin' lots of stuff!
It's been busy around here the last few weeks. I managed to make it through Edolie's birthday AND Halloween without pulling all of my hair out. I also managed to finish up a stack of 23 billfolds and am furiously sewing through a pile of coin pouches to be done in the next day or so. Fun times! I am desperately trying to get a lot done and listed in my shop to reach my goal of at least 50 items in my shop and a few extra for my upcoming show at the end of the month. I'm crossing my fingers it will all come together:) I decided to show off the first three billfolds that I finished up for my Etsy shop. Now I'm off to do a little bit of cleaning before I hit the sewing machine again.

It's pretty much everything that I wanted in a wallet for myself. So, I am offering them up after taking mine for a nice long test drive:) Enjoy! and thanks for looking!

New!
My Newest Creation, a mix of my itty bitty messenger bag and My large envelope wallet. This is the first of the batch and I get to call it mine:) Only so I can see if it's something that will work well for what I designed it for.
A close-up of the applique design this time purple, orange and olive green suede!
The contrasting front flap interior in purple suede(goes so nicely with this particular shade of teal
The exterior of the bag
The interior featuring three card pockets, one zipper pocket and two large slide pockets all fully lined in a paisley cotton print.
And there it is:) I feel so accomplished! It's just one of many things on the table this week. Including a stack of billfolds all ready for cutting, gluing, and sewing, a wristlet that just needs a zipper and a button to feel complete, and, a cuff from the same teal suede that needs some stitching and a handmade button to make it happy(and wearable) Here's hopin' that this week some work gets done.
