I Missed January!
I would to say that I missed January because we were so incredibly busy with activities and super fun stuff that I just didn't have time to post, but, no, I can't. We've all been sick since the end of the year at least and we are now dealing with a nasty tummy virus that has gotten both the kids so far. I thought I would post something before it catches me!
The pictures above are for my newest project for the Humboldt Art Abandonment project. They are specially made valentines that I will be placing throughout Arcata over the next few days. They are simple glue resist paintings on black paper with extra special metallic pastel painting and a little bit of sparkly fairy dust to make them super magical! I just finished framing them and will wrap them later today. Then off to find some good "abandoning" places for them around town. I think I'll abandon the first one tonight on my walk around the neighborhood.
I have been working in between illness and other various activities. I even managed to come up with a new wallet design and finished the first one this week while I was home with Ciaran. I'll have pics of those later when I get to sewing the rest of them up.
I had such big plans for January, but, nothing worked out they way I planned. We even had to postpone Ciaran's 8th birthday party because we didn't want to make anyone else sick:(
Now it's February. I sure hope I don't miss this month too!
I am crossing my fingers for a healthful, creative, and happy February for us and everyone!

Gotta Get In My Last Post of 2008
I don't have much to say today. Mostly because my caffeine hasn't kicked in yet. I just want to wish everybody a Happy New Year and hope your New Year's Eve is super fun and super safe. Mine will be spent looking after the big sick guy and the little sick guy with sniffles. Should be a blast. All of you crazy Arcatans, have a great time hanging out on the plaza, climbing the McKinley statue, maybe next year I will join you:)

I am Not Sure What To Title This
I finished a new little wallet as shown above. My first creation out of the gorgeous pumpkin orange suede I got a couple of weeks ago. I am really liking the flower appliques. I am not really the biggest fan of flowery things but I am liking how these pieces work together.
Now I am back on my quest for white or off white leather. I bought myself some iridescent red pigment the other day to try out and man does it look neato! I am thinking that I would like to try a cuff or a neck piece with that color. That would be wonderful! I have a few Etsy related projects to finish first. I want to keep them top secret until the persons that are receiving them can see them first. I love surprises....but only when I get to surprise other people........well, sometimes I like to be surprised too, but only nice surprises. Nice surprises make me happy, scary or mean surprises make me want to poke the surpriser ( I don't know if that is even a word but I am going to use it anyway)in the eye really hard. Well with that note, I am off to do more sewing. Have a great day all!

You Must Be Tired of Seeing These By Now
I think I post more pictures of my wallets here than in my shop. Well, each time I finish one I get all bubbly and happy and have to show it off somewhere. Since this is my little place to talk about myself, I figure it's better here than somewhere else. I am going to be so sad when I run out of this crazy orange suede. It is so incredibly soft and yummy to look at. I am supposed to be getting another orange suede jacket sometime soon ,but I think that one will be a little less on the pink side and more on the yellow side.
So yesterday was another day of illness. I felt awful most of the day but still had to get out for some sewing supplies. On the way to the fabric store we almost had a large accident which helped that whole feeling sick to my stomach thing so much! I just can't put it into words. Luckily we were all o.k. I think my feet will be in "slam on the brakes" mode permanently. Once again, my stomach and it's contents spent most of the afternoon trying to claw their way out. By the evening I was better but tired, Ciaran couldn't have cared less. Happy little guy all around. Just happy to be happy I guess. I wish I was more like him.
Today is a brand new day! We will be heading downtown to do some mailing, dinner hunting, and treasure hunting, as well as a visit to Mark at work. Thankfully no car rides today. Yipee!
