I Got Some Work!

My shop has been pretty slow, and since I've been sick, I haven't really been able to list anything. So I was very happily surprised to get a couple of custom orders to work on. It has been so nice to have something to work on instead of just sitting and staring at the wall. I am hoping it will motivate me to get cracking on other projects that need finishing and stocking up on inventory for my shops. Until then I am content just to be doing a little bit. It feels good to be back to work. I don't think I was meant for sitting still and doing nothing. It just doesn't work in my favor.

So Far, So Good

I am taking my new plan for work seriously and trying to stick to it as much as possible. I feel so much better today! I am so happy! I decided to take it easy anyways and hang around the house to work on a few things and just take a breather. Meanwhile, Mark is taking Ciaran out for a breather of his own, away from sick, grouchy mama and to get some much needed fresh air and sunshine. Although I didn't do much except for make pudding and do some gluing, I feel like a whole new person. I would dance, but apparently, that can set off the whole dizzy thing all over again. So on to my quiet Saturday night, celebrated by little increments of work and rest...........and food!

Plan of Attack

So I am figuring that this vertigo thing gets worse with eye-strain. So my new plan of attack is small increments of time spent on my computering, and lots of rest periods, followed by a little leather work, then more rest periods, and lots of water and small snacks inbetween. Today I am getting out the green leather to cut out a few wallets and such, so I am limiting my computering to just the morning. It will be weird, but until I can get my dizzy head under control, it is necessary. Wish me luck:)

A Long, Long Day

Yes, very long indeed. After a week of whirlwind shopping, visits, and adventures to have such a quiet uneventful day seemed awfully boring. Just rainy and quiet and not much of anything happening. Not that I am complaining, but it is so strange to me, how easily it is to become so used to busy, busy, busy, and when the busy is gone, I kind of don't know what to do with myself. So I used my time to work a bit and start a new shop. I decided to try an Artfire shop after all. I see that it is a big topic of discussion on Etsy right now, so out of curiosity I checked it out. It seemed to be a nice set-up, easy to use, and a nice lay-out, so I jumped in and decided to give it a go. We will see what happens. I still have my icraft shop which I love, but I need to give myself more opportunities to get out there. So here is to organizing, experimenting, and just seeing what happens, what harm can that do. Off to do a little bit of work, drink some dark and devilish brew, then get my butt to bed.

A Christmas Cold and Hangover to Match

What a wonderful Christmas except for the nasty cold and a little bit of a hangover from my shot of whiskey and a glass of wine to follow. Lots of wonderful gifts for the little boy and lovely times for everyone. Today I am actually sore, like a ran a marathon or something. I think it is from keeping the kiddo propped up on the couch all night so he could breath. He has a pretty nasty cold but seems to be in really good spirits despite the really runny nose and not quite knowing what to do with all of that snot.

Today is the last day with my sister and cousins before they head back to L.A. It has been so nice to have them all here, I wish they could stay much longer. But no, back to real life, she and the kids get to go and enjoy the rest of the holiday season with more family, and back to work for me. I am lucky enough to be working on a couple orders for the next week. Yay! happy times!

Procrastination Station

That's me! I should be working on my last minute gifts but I can't get my butt out the chair to do so. I am having too much fun watching our latest storm roll in and the kiddo playing on the floor in his Christmas footy pajamas. It is just so nice and peaceful in here....why muck it up with work? My little projects are staring at me though, making me feel nice and guilty. That would be the way the treat me darn it! Oh well, might as well dig in and get things done, that way I can play later in the week instead sitting at the machine sewing away. Off to work I go!

Back to Work

So the Design Collective is over, I took the day yesterday to clean-up a little bit and improve some designs and now I am back to work. I have started listing some new wallets and I am making more day by day. I love the color combination in this one the bright raspberry pink with black and pumpkin orange. It stands out! I have decided to make my travel wallets just a smidgen bigger to fit a check book and more cash! I think it will go over well. I just want to design and make things that are pretty and practical. I think I am on the right track.

I am trying a new pouch design in sage green, lavender, and black that I think will look wonderful when done. I am going to be adding two zipper pockets, and a lot more slip pockets to the design to make it super usable. I am excited! I love the process of creating, you never do know what you'll end up with but the learning experience from the process is the key. That to me is worth it. Even if the project doesn't work out and you have to scrap the whole thing, at least you have learned what will or won't work.

Today we head downtown for a few errands. The weather seems to have changed into its more Autumn like appearance. Overcast and colder, with a tease of sun at the very end of the afternoon. I love it, but it definitely bugs a lot of the people around here, they so wanted more of a Summer. I can't say I blame them, but I still like the idea of bundling up in a nice warm sweater, hot cocoa, coffee, and a nice long walk. No more sandals, I guess I have to wear real shoes and socks. Not my favorite thing to do, but, I will give in for the sake of my poor chilly feet.

So back to work I go, hopefully I will have some good sewing karma and some amazing stuff will come out of that. No holding breath or crossing fingers though, it will be what it will be, no flipsy-changos!

An Early Start

I was up before dawn finishing a couple of these for a custom order. Battling a sinus headache and a scary, stressful dream hangover. It was so peaceful and the sunrise was so lovely! I love getting up early, it is the only time I truly get to myself. Late nights belong to Mark, that is when he unwinds by hanging out in the bike forums and drinking his fancy beers, I usually fall asleep well before midnight and snore up a storm on the couch next to him.

I usually try to sleep in if I can so I have the energy to work after Ciaran has gone to bed. I usually get three to four hours of work time when the little guy is snoozing. I tried working yesterday but my unruly sinus condition wasn't having it. I spent most of the day lying on the floor watching Ciaran do laps around my body. He seems to enjoy this game. He runs a few laps, jumps on my stomach, pokes me in the eye or the nose, and then runs off again, squealing with delight the whole time.

So my big custom order is just about done and ready to go. Yay! I look forward to my next custom order and making many goodies for my shops. I just hope my sinus stuff lets me work.
